Preschool and Title I Resources for Family Engagement

• Each spring Hume Elementary hosts a Family Night where each classroom teacher presents the skills students can work on to be success ready for their class in the fall. Each teacher has included a presentation or handouts that covers topics and skills to review with your child over the summer for preparation of the next grade. Please see pdf attachments below.

• Pizza Hut Book-it Program's website includes resources and activities for parents that are available online and as a printable version.

• Epic! is an online library database for children's books. Several of our teachers have a class code for students to log in during the school day and a limited time after school. For more information please ask your child's teacher, or follow the link below.

• The Center for READing is a resource for parents that is located on Pitt State's campus in Pittsburg, Kansas. They offer screening, interventions and/or tutoring for Dyslexia and ADHD. Fees are based on family income.

Dear Parent or Guardian,

    Our district is required to inform you of certain information that you, according to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA, 2015), have the right to know.

    Upon your request, our district is required to provide to you in a timely manner, the following information:

 Whether the teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.

• Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived.

• Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

• What baccalaureate degree major the teacher has and any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification.

    In addition to the information that parents may request, districts must provide to each individual parent:

• Information on the achievement level of the parent’s child in each of the state academic assessments as required under this part.
