October in 2nd Grade!
Hello, Second Grade Families!
October is here, and we have lots of learning and fun happening in our classroom! Here is a look at what we will be working on this month.
➕ Math
In math, we are learning about odd and even numbers. Students will practice identifying whether numbers are odd or even and explaining how they know.
✏️ Grammar
We are learning how to build complete sentences using a subject and a predicate.
The subject tells who or what the sentence is about.
The predicate tells what the subject does or is.
We will practice putting these parts together to make strong, complete sentences!
 Spelling
In spelling, we are learning to distinguish between long and short vowel sounds. Students will practice listening for vowel sounds and using them to help read and spell words correctly.
If a student misses a word or words on their spelling test, they will write each missed word 5 times for additional practice.
⭐ Test Corrections
Students have the opportunity to learn from their mistakes! They may redo questions they missed on a test for ½ credit. This gives students another chance to show what they have learned while encouraging them to review skills that may need a little more practice.
Halloween Parade & Parties — October 30th
We are excited for our Halloween Parade and classroom parties on October 30th!
Parade: 2:45 PM
The parade will go around the school, weather permitting.
Classroom parties will begin after the parade.
We are looking forward to a wonderful October filled with lots of learning and some spooky fun!
Thank you for your continued support at home!
Happy October!
